WILD PICNIC COASTAL ELOPEMENT IDEAS
As far as coastal elopement inspiration goes, these photos captured at Seven Sisters on a summer evening by the sea really hit the spot!
Recently featured on the Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog, this shoot is full of inspiration for relaxed brides looking to have the most chilled, beautiful day by the sea. “Set at Cuckmere Haven in Sussex you will find a super cool bride and groom dressed in on trend, hip attire (hello blue tulle gown!), a picnic tablescape styled to perfection and an exquisite stationery suite. I really think you will get lost in these fabulous captures today. Enjoy!” – Thanks Lou for such kind words!
Lou also talked about her own elopement and said “I know I have banged on about my own wedding for almost 5 years now, but more than ever I want to rave about elopements, micro weddings and secret ceremonies followed by roaringly good fun after-parties. In the current climate it’s something that may work perfectly for a postponed or rearranged wedding, that’s if you are looking to wed sooner rather than later. Honestly our secret ceremony and after party with our loved ones was magical and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Which is why today I am really stoked to be bringing you this super dreamy coastal elopement ideas editorial. It brings all the style, all the love and all the inspiration you need to pull of a romantic, memorable and really special elopement by the sea.”
Captured by yours truly and with Margot Watt of Petite Pearl Events in charge of the planning, this shoot came together beautifully and even the weather played ball.
The concept came to me while daydreaming like most of my ideas (shocker, I know!).
Let’s face it, my daydreams more often than not involve being by the sea, sailing the sea or swimming in the sea. I shared my tiny spark of an idea with Margot and magic happened. Being the wedding planning queen that she is, the concept became more beautiful than I could’ve ever achieved on my own.
We chose the suppliers carefully to make sure all the pieces would fit together perfectly and so we created a dream team of hugely talented people. Without their expertise and hard work none of this would’ve been possible and I would wholeheartedly recommend all of them for your wedding because they totally rock and they will make your dreams come true. You can find the full credits at the bottom of the page.
I hope this inspiration gives you the courage to follow your vision. Be brave and follow your dreams! By choosing the right wedding suppliers and sharing your hopes with them, you can truly create a magical wedding you’ll never forget. Sky’s the limit!
In Margot’s words: “The theme for this shoot was “Wild Romance Coastal Elopement”. With a bit of a modern-boho vibe it was inspired both by the natural beauty of the location (Cuckmere Haven, a unique stretch of rocky beach with the dramatic Seven Sisters cliffs in the background) and the movement, moods and colours of the ocean. We also took a lot of inspiration from our couple – a cool, laidback pair of non-traditional creatives. We wanted to compliment the romance and drama of the local coastline but also create something that would feel authentic to our couple and capture their sense of adventure and whimsy.”
“With that in mind we created a unique picnic elopement on the beach that was equally luxurious and laid-back. The focal point was an intimate grazing table for two dressed in layers of soft, natural textures and calm, neutral tones with pops of rich colour to compliment the surroundings.”
“All of the elements, from the tableware and decor, to the relaxed yet dramatic flowers and hand-dyed ribbons were carefully curated to reinforce the theme of the shoot in subtle but meaningful touches. The custom stationery suite was a great example of this, with the artist carefully selecting colours, textures and design touches that beautifully expressed the intimate mood of the shoot and the wild beauty of the coast.”
“Suppliers were sourced from both the UK and the west coast of Canada, bringing together a diverse team of talented creatives. One of the elements that travelled the farthest (in addition to the stationery), was the custom gown made for our bride and sent all the way from Vancouver.”
“The dress was one of the central elements that inspired the rest of the design and as this was very much a “non-traditional” elopement we wanted to give our bride something totally unique. We opted for a bold and whimsical dress in an eye-catching teal-blue colour with a modern cut bodice and frothy layers of tulle, again mirroring the colours and moods of the ocean.”
“To compliment this, the bride’s hair and makeup was fresh and natural, giving her a glowing windblown look. And as the finishing touch, the whole look was rounded-off by adding unique modern jewellery pieces in wood and gold provided by a local artisan.”
“The above all came together to create a romantic, relaxed and modern take on a beach elopement with a cool vibe that makes us dream of escaping for our own wild and intimate elopements!”
