Anna & Alex, Surrender Session from Brighton to Seven Sisters
Anna & Alex travelled all the way from China to get some pre-wedding photos done at Birling Gap and they chose me to shoot it. I always feel very privileged when a couple trusts me to capture their story.
We decided to start the session in Brighton and aimed to be at seven Sisters for golden hour but the sun decided not to come out that day. Instead, it was misty and hazy so I approached the shoot differently and played around with movement. As a result, the images have a soft, artistic feel which I love. All this to say: embrace whatever the weather throws your way, you’ll probably end up discovering a new side of yourself!
These two beautiful souls were extremely joyful and a dream to photograph. They completely embraced the adventure and gave me free creative rein.
Anna & Alex both lived and Hong Kong and were form the same town in China but didn’t know each other. One day, they were sitting next to each other on the bus going from Hong Kong back to their home town but they didn’t speak. Fate intervened and a few days later they met at a dinner party with friends: Anna gets easily lost so her friend sent someone to get her form the train station and it was Alex!
This shoot was featured on Rock ‘n Roll Bride a couple of months ago and this is what Anna told them: “In China, it is popular to do a pre-wedding shoot to show your photos at the wedding because on the big day it’s often too busy to have photos of just the two of us. For us, this shoot was like a wedding present to ourselves to capture the sweet moment of our love story forever, and it gave us a chance to enjoy some time together and just be who we are.”
She also added, “We love the pictures so much, and how Manon captured our love and emotions naturally which allowed us to be ourselves in front of the camera. It was a great experience.”
Having a pre-wedding or post-wedding session is a great way to give yourself (and your photographer!) more freedom for the photos. It’s a relaxed environment with little time constrains which really does make a difference.
So anyway, here’s our adventure in photos… from Café Coho – a Brighton classic – to Brighton Palace Pier, fresh donuts included – they’re a must if you come visit Brighton, honest! – all the way to Birling Gap, one of the most stunning places you can visit.
